Early Treatment
This 9-year-old patient was beginning to develop a poor self-image due to teasing from his peers concerning the space between his central incisors. Braces were placed on the upper incisors and first molars to decrease the overbite and close the space. This phase of treatment lasted 4 months.
This 7-year-old patient had a crossbite between the upper and lower front teeth (the upper teeth are supposed to be in front of the lower teeth). The teeth, the skeleton or both may cause this. The crossbites involving the permanent and baby teeth were corrected orthodontically using braces on the permanent upper incisors and first molars and a lower removable appliance to close the space and unlock the bite. Treatment lasted 9 months.
Limited Treatment
The 13-year-old patient had an anterior crossbite involving the upper right central incisor and slight lower incisor crowding. Braces were placed on the upper incisors, canines and first molars. A removable appliance was used to straighten the lower incisors. Treatment lasted 6 months.
This 24 year old patient wanted to straighten her upper and lower front teeth. Braces were placed on the upper and lower six front teeth. Room was made by expanding her dental arches and reducing the width of her teeth (interproximal reduction). Treatment lasted 7 months.
Comprehensive Treatment
This 13-year-old patient has an anterior openbite (incisors are not able to touch); her upper front teeth stick out; her lower teeth are crowded; and the midlines (middle) of her upper and lower teeth are off. Comprehensive orthodontic treatment with fixed appliance (braces) achieved optimal functional and esthetic results within 25 months.
This 47-year-old patient was concerned about her deep bite (overlap of the front teeth) aggressively wearing the incisors. Orthodontic treatment with the removal of four permanent teeth was completed when the patient was a teenager. Braces were placed on her upper teeth to open her bite and align her teeth. After 9 months braces were placed on the lower teeth. Treatment lasted 27 months.
This 12-year-old patient’s upper teeth protrude because the lower jaw did not grow as much as the upper jaw and the lower front teeth are crowded. Comprehensive orthodontic treatment with the removal of two upper teeth was used to achieve optimal functional and esthetic results. Treatment lasted 27 months.
This 61-year-old patient wanted to close spaces and correct her bite without having facial surgery to reposition the jaws. Only comprehensive orthodontic treatment was needed to align the teeth, close the spaces and establish good dental relationships. Treatment lasted 27 months. Retainers with fake teeth were used to hold the position of teeth and maintain spaces from the missing teeth until they are replaced with implants.
